We bought Shaunti's pair of books and discussed our notes.

We also bought a book called 101 questions before getting engaged. We did not resolve every issue in the book but it reduces the number of blind spots and gives couples a better sense of the issues.

Can you borrow a copy of the Love Dare from someone? There is this great idea, and a long list of questions that you can ask him. I do understand my husband better now after 13 years than what I did when we married 10 years ago. I could still understand him better, but men and women are wired totally differently. Men are built more to work as functional as they can, while women are more detail and emotion oriented. Example: Pastor held up an object for us to describe in a counselling session. this item was a trophy. Jason (DH) said "award" while I said acheivement, you did well. Jason saw a tassel for graduation as a tassel, I saw it as a step forward and moving ahead. It's hard to ever understand your SO, but, by working on it, by asking and discussing, and by playing together... it becomes easier.

Quality of life is not in the have and have nots. It is in the will and will nots.
